STANDISH — The Standish City Council voted to put a six month moratorium on the issuance of permits for the dispensing of medical marijuana during their monthly meeting Thursday evening. With both Council members Ed Reno and Jerry Nelson absent, the Council voted 6-0 on city ordinance 246, which will put a six month hold on permits for the dispensation of medical marijuana within city limits. more

ALGER — Two lives were lost Friday afternoon as a motorcycle hit the back of a pickup truck on Northbound I-75, two miles south of the M-33 exit in Moffatt Township, just outside of Alger. more
ARENAC COUNTY — A severe thunderstorm rolled through Arenac County this afternoon. The severe weather knocked down two telephone poles next to the Shell Gas Station, in Sterling, along with causing a scattered power outage in Standish. The storm also completely flooded some streets in Standish, and caused worries about a small fire that may have happen inside of Pamida. No injuries or major incidents have been reported.
