FAIRGROVE — Arenac Eastern won for the second time in three games Tuesday, winning 61-41 at Akron-Fairgrove.

The Eagles shot just 31 percent from the field and 8-of-21 at the free throw line, but committed just 12 turnovers to key the win.

"Caleb Whitney has done a wonderful job getting the ball up the court all season," said AE coach Bob Morgan. "Last year this team struggled just to get the ball past half court. This year that isn't a problem."

Graham Morgan had 18 points and 21 rebounds, Whitney added 14 points and Nick Phelan added 11 to pace the Eagles.

"Graham and Nick have really stepped up their intensity in the second half of the season," Morgan said.

"We got the win, but we sure didn't play our best game," he added. "We need to sharpen our defense if we expect to go anywhere in districts."

The Eagles (3-15) close out the regular season at home with a make-up game with Atlanta, and then take on AuGres-Sims for the fourth time this season in next Monday's district opener at Fairview.
