AGS 53, Oscoda 44
OSCODA - Dec. 8, 2008 - AuGres-Sims moved to 3-0 Monday, coming back from an early deficit to defeat Oscoda 53-44
The Owls led 13-8 after the first quarter, but AGS held a 45-31 advantage the rest of the way.
"Oscoda is pretty quick," said AGS coach Gordie Ostrander. "They're going to win some games. I didn't feel we played very well on defense, though.
"Offensively we played pretty well, and once we got to the third quarter we started playing harder and got a good lead."
The Wolverines shot 25-of-53 from the floor (47 percent), but hurt themselves with a 1-of-10 performance at the free throw line.
"Even if we hit just 50 percent, it wouldn't have been that close a game," Ostrander said. "We hit them in practice. We have a couple of areas of concern, but that's a big one."
Emily Lutz scored 23 points, pulled down 10 rebounds and dished out 11 assists, while Tasha Trombley had 10 points and 14 rebounds, Adriane Swaffield added 11 points and five rebounds and Tonie VanSickle had 10 points and five rebounds.
Heather Patterson scored nine for the Owls (0-3), with Rebecka Brewer and Abby Samotis adding eight apiece.
