Accident occurs July 11 at Standish traffic light

           Updated 4:42 p.m., July 11 STANDISH —A semi and a van collided at the M-61 and US-23 intersection in Standish July 11 at approximately 1:40 p.m.

            According to sheriff’s department Sgt. Dale Zaherniak, who was on-scene, a van was allegedly turning at the intersection as the light changed. Zaherniak said the van was already committed when the semi collision occurred.

            There were minor injuries in the accident, Zaherniak said, though he had no additional information at the time. He also did not know if the people in the accident were wearing seat belt.

            The Arenac County Sheriff’s Department, Standish Area Fire Authority, Saginaw Chippewa Tribal Police, and Mobile Medical Response all responded to the accident. The scene was cleared by 2:30 p.m., Zaherniak said.
