ARENAC COUNTY — The updated Arenac County website, www.arenaccountygov.com, is more interactive and provide users with access to more information, according to Arenac County Commissioner Joe Sancimino.

Sancimino said that the upgraded website became operational two weeks ago, and will continue to be updated, giving users access to information about local municipalities, as well as links to local business websites and area Chambers of Commerce.

According to Sancimino, the website was upgraded by Network Services Group of Saginaw, which he said handles the county’s information technology services. He said the upgrade was paid for by the Arenac County Economic Development Corporation.

“What (NSG) did normally costs (around) $2,500,” Sancimino said. “They charged us about $1,200.”

He said that local municipalities will be able to post their information to the site as it continues to develop, which will especially benefit area townships without websites of their own.

“A lot of our townships don’t have a web presence,” Sancimino said.

He said that each department in the county has a page on the website, and that employees will receive free training to learn how to update their pages, to keep the site up to date.

“We’re going to give each department their own username and password, so they can get on and update their page,” Sancimino said.

Included in the upgrade is a picture slideshow running across the top of the site highlighting activities and places around the county. While there are currently only seven photos in the slideshow, Sancimino said that around 200 more will be added over time.
