AuGres awarded grant from MEDC
AuGRES — Last week the city of AuGres was approved for $750,000 in Community Development Block Grant funding for sewer and street improvements from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC).
“We applied for this funding in May, 2009 and are thrilled to have our application be selected for a final project award,” said AuGres City Manager Pat Killingbeck. She added there is a little bit more paperwork to be handled, which she must submit by mid-November to ensure funding for the project.
Killingbeck said the grant funds will be put to work towards improving or repairing several city streets and for upgrades to the city’s sanitary sewer main and storm sewer drains.
A release from the MEDC says the match amount required for the grant is $83,000.
“This funding helps Michigan’s communities address the cost of upgrading public facilities,” said MEDC President and CEO Greg Main. “In today’s competitive business environment, projects like these can give communities an upper hand in attracting new investment and jobs.”
