Braves take all but two events from WP girls
TAWAS AREA — Tawas Area's girls won all but two events Wednesday as the Braves defeated Whittemore-Prescott 111-25 in an NEMC dual meet.
"Despite the cold and gusty wind, the girls worked hard and did a good job today," said Tawas coach Chris Owens.
Whittemore-Prescott's Larissa McGeathy swept the throws, winning the discus with a throw of 70-1 and the shot with a toss of 29-1.
Winners for the Braves were Alaina Nunn, Abigail Hutchison, Olivia Bolen and Emily Short in 12:09.0; Richelle Payea in the long jump (14-9.25) and 800 (2:39.7); Sara Blust in the high jump (4-6); MIchelle Look in the pole vault (7-0); Samantha Duvall in the 100 hurdles; Dana Kolnitys in the 100 dash (14.0) and 200 (28.8); Charity Cardinal, Shelby Benoit, Chelsea Wojahn and Julie Enzenberger in the 4x200 (2:00.0); Short in the 1600 (6:30.9) and 3200 (12:50.9); Payea, Benoit, Wojahn and Kolnitys in the 4x100 (54.5); Benoit in the 400 (1:08.0); Rachel Faught in the 300 hurdles (56.12); and Payea, Cardinal, Kolnitys and Wojahn in the 4x400 (4:43.3).
Blust (high jump), Look (pole vault), Abby Laidlaw (shot put), Benoit (long jump), Nunn (800) and Short (3200) all achieved PR's for the Braves.
