STANDISH — Charges have formally been made against Standish City Manager Tori Kelly and City Treasurer Melissa McAllister.

According to Mayor Kevin King, Kelly is facing four charges of embezzlement over $50 by a public official and one count of willful neglect of duty.

The embezzlement charges are felonious and can carry a penalty of incarceration for up to ten years. Willful neglect of duty is a one-year misdemeanor.

McAllister faces only one count of willful neglect of duty.

King says a special meeting is being held by Standish City Council at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 8 to further discuss city employees misconduct and possible disciplinary action. The meeting will directly deal with Kelly and McAllister, King says.

According to King, both employees are still currently classified as suspended with pay and no motion has been made to fire either employee yet.

No further information was disclosed.

The special prosecutor in the case is Ogemaw County Prosecuting Attorney, LaDonna Schulz.
