Circuit Court puts former city manager on the clock

ARENAC COUNTY — Time is running out for former Standish City Manager Tori Kelly to accept a plea deal laid out by prosecution.

On Sept. 23, at a pretrial hearing with 23rd Circuit Court Judge Ronal Bergeron, Kelly and her attorney were given a cutoff date of Oct. 7 to plead, otherwise a jury trial on embezzlement allegations will begin on Oct. 26. The court will accept no plea once the trial starts.

Standish City Council fired Kelly in October 2008 for alleged embezzlement and work place misconduct. Attorney William Brisbois represents her in court and handling matters for the prosecution is Ogemaw County Prosecutor LaDonna Schultz.
