On the morning of Aug. 5, 2014, D. Douglas Dudley, Cowboy-of-the-Sea, 72, passed peacefully in his Standish home with family present.

He was born on Jan. 7, 1942, to the late Lois (Major) Tucker and Donald Dudley, of Standish.

With a passion for the ocean, Doug spent a good part of his life as a boat Captain, scuba/salvage diver, and treasure hunter in the waters of the Bahamas and up to the Carolina’s. He called Wilmington, N.C. “home” for many years.

Doug was an avid outdoorsman and nature enthusiast. He loved teaching his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews how to hunt and fish, ride horses, drive boats and cars...fast, swim, scuba dive, water-ski, snow ski, and to appreciate nature. Above all, Doug valued his family.
