Driver in accident requiring Jaws of Life critical but stable

MOFFATT TWP. — The driver in a one-car accident on M-76 is in critical but stable condition after as accident in Moffatt Township Aug. 10. The Jaws of Life were required to extract the driver, a male, whose name is currently being withheld.
The car involved in the accident, which occurred around 10 a.m. Friday, was a mid-size SUV, which was traveling southbound and went off the east side of the roadway and struck a tree just south of the Ogemaw-Arenac county line.
Emergency response agencies at the scene of the accident included the Michigan State Police, Ogemaw County Sheriff’s Office, Ogemaw Fire Department, Moffatt Township Fire Department, Sterling Area Fire Department and Ogemaw County EMS.
Two towing companies — Sunrise Towing and D & N Towing — also stopped at the scene.
Traffic was closed in the northbound lane while firefighters and police officers worked to extract the driver, and examine and clean up the scene.
MSP Trooper Rick Dettling said the driver was transported to West Branch Regional Medical Center via Ogemaw County EMS, and was later transported to St. Mary’s of Saginaw.
Dettling said the accident is under investigation.
