Health screenings to be available at St. Mary’s
STANDISH — Free tests will be available to the general public at St. Mary’s of Michigan Standish Hospital on Nov. 18.
Free tests and services offered include height, weight, vision, hearing, blood pressure, total cholesterol, ask the pharmacist, ask the physician, results counseling, diabetes screening A1C for a limited number of participants and colon cancer screening kits for a limited number of participants.
Results are often available the same day.
St. Mary’s of Standish Community Relations Manager Holly Bender said the Standish facility will serve as the location of the tests, while an outside firm will actually perform them. However, she said doctors inside the hospital may serve as resources in the future.
“We will be available. If additional testing is needed they will refer it to our physicians who are accepting patients,” she said.
Bender added the screenings would be done in the administration building located behind the hospital and patients will enter through the patients’ entrance for screenings.
Screenings will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Space is limited to about 65 patients and pre-registration is required. To sign up, call 800-541-8110. Picture identification will be required at the time of the tests.
