Good News gets good news
Arenac County Fund grants program $750
Good News Ministries Lutheran Church, located on M-65 between Whittemore and Twining, received a $750 grant from the Arenac County Fund, a fund of the Bay Area Community Foundation.
The funds are being used to purchase emergency food baskets for residents of Arenac County. The $750 will enable the church to distribute approximately 50 baskets.
To date, over 180 individual family members have received baskets, which are created by funds received through grant monies, from the church. Since January, over 250 baskets have been distributed to residents of Arenac and Iosco counties.
Additional funding for the baskets was provided from grants received from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, Thrivent Lutheran; donations by local resources and fundraising.
Also, Good News Ministries Lutheran Church sponsored more than 18 mobile food pantries that were held throughout Arenac, Iosco and adjacent counties this year. Over 150 tons of food products were allocated to over 5,000 households in the area. The most recent food pantry was at the church on Oct. 21.
