Halloween scavengers hit the streets

STANDISH — Halloween, clues and small groups of people scrambling for answers – sound like a horror movie? Actually it’s the second Halloween Scavenger Hunt hosted by St. Mary’s of Standish Michigan Hospital (SMMSH) on Oct. 18. SMMSH Community Relations Manager Holly Bender says the hunt leads teams of four all over the area scavenging for clues. “All teams will meet at the hospital at the Page Memorial Park (where teams receive the first clue of the hunt). … The individuals who register will get a map of the surrounding four counties,” Bender said, adding the map will cover Arenac, Ogemaw and Bay counties also, since clues in the scavenger hunt may lead teams right up to the county lines. “I don’t know if that means if you’ll go into those counties, but it’s a possibility.” Bender says she is uncertain about the location of the clues since she is not coordinating the event, but participating in it instead, just like last year’s scavenger hunt. “We had a great turnout last year and we had a lot of fun,” she said.
