Hearing for Kelly, McAllister, moved to Feb. 23

Former Standish City Manager Tori Kelly and former City Treasurer Melissa McAllister were scheduled to appear in Arenac County’s 81st District Court in Standish for a pretrial on Jan. 26, but that court date was postponed until Feb. 23.

Kelly, who had been employed by the city since 2001, is facing four felony charges of embezzlement and a misdemeanor charge of willful neglect of duty as Standish City Manager. McAllister was a city employee since 2002 and is only facing the charge of willful neglect of duty.

Kelly and McAllister were officially fired by Standish City Council in October and prior to that, in May of last year, were suspended with pay. Their actions were brought to light at a city council meeting the same day they were fired – Oct. 8 – by Labor and Employment Attorney Elizabeth Peters. Peters’ presentation to city council included e-mail records and instances of tax dollar misappropriations made by the two former employees.

The Feb. 23 hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m.
