High winds knock out power


ARENAC COUNTY — The winds that exceeded 50 miles per hour this past Saturday, Dec. 27, caused approximately 62,000 Consumers Energy customers to lose electricity, including 3,000 in Arenac County, who remained without power on Monday, Dec. 29, according to a Consumers press release published at 4 a.m. on Monday morning.

Arenac County wasn’t the only county in the area suffering due to the loss of electricity. According to the press statement, in Bay County, 1,800 customers were without power; 3,4000 Iosco County customers; 1,000 Gladwin County customers; and 2,800 Ogemaw County customers.

The press release said that power was expected to be back up for all customers by Wednesday, Dec. 31.
