Kids Day activities return Saturday
STANDISH — The Christmas celebration is set to ramp up Dec. 14 during the Standish Area Chamber of Commerce’s annual Kids Day.
Chamber of Commerce member Lisa Saunders said the day will begin bright and early at 8:30 a.m.
“The kids actually start their day at the Standish hospital doing breakfast with Santa,” she said.
Holly Shillair, community relations manager at St. Mary’s of Michigan Standish Hospital, said the breakfast will include pancakes, sausage, orange juice and milk. The breakfast runs until 10 a.m., Shillair said.
“Santa will be there, and the kids can tell him what they have on their wish list for Christmas,” she said. “And parents, if they want to, can get a photo of their kids with him.”
After breakfast, Saunders said children and their families will be able to visit different businesses in town to participate in Kids Day activities.
“We have seven different businesses that will be offering crafts,” she said. “They range from pine cone bird feeders to lighted cards to Christmas ornaments.”
Children and their families do not have to visit participating businesses in a certain order, Saunders said. Kids Day comes to a close at 1 p.m.
The chamber will provide a bag for all of the kids, which they can use to carry their crafts in, Saunders said. The bags will be available at the Arenac County Independent office at 1010 W. Cedar St.
Businesses participating in Kids Day include Little Joe’s Radio Shack, the Arenac County IndeÂpendent, Shopko, FirstMerit Bank, McDonald’s, the Standish Historical Depot and Welcome Center and The Horizon Senior Living Center.
Activities are free, Saunders said.
