Man arrested in connection with theft at AuGres business
AuGRES — An Omer man has been arrested for allegedly breaking into and taking items from Bernard Building Center in AuGres.
Lonnie Parker, 35, has been charged with breaking and entering, resisting and obstructing, and receiving and concealing stolen property.
Parker was arrested driving in AuGres on Wednesday, May 25 and is being held in the Arenac County Jail. Bond is set at $150,000.
According to Donald McIntyre, undersheriff for the Arenac County Sheriff’s Department, the sheriff’s department and the AuGres-Sims Police Department were able to obtain information enabling them to obtain a search warrant for Parker’s home.
“We received good information from the public that led to us making an arrest,” he said.
The departments recovered two allegedly stolen air conditioners and a bench grinder from Parker’s residence.
AuGres-Sims Police Chief Jason Overstreet said both departments are still investigating the situation.
He said the arrest was the result of good cooperation between the two police departments.
“We shared information and were able to make the arrest,” he said.
