The Omer cemetery was one or four stops for Veterans of Foreign Wars members May 25, with more scheduled for May 26. Members of the VFW and Ladies Auxiliary read statements regarding the observance of Memorial Day, and a wreath was placed at the cemetery's veteran's monument. A firing squad was present, and taps was played in memory of fallen soldiers. The VFW also visited the Cedar Valley Cemetery, the Linwood Cemetery in Au Gres and the Sims Township Cemetery May 25.
