Minor injuries in accident between minivan, semi

SIMS TWP. — The driver of a Ford minivan was transported to St. Mary’s of Michigan Standish Hospital with minor injuries after his vehicle was reportedly struck by a semi truck April 14.

Undersheriff Donald McIntyre said Michael Heritier, 63, of Tawas, was attempting to make a left turn off of northbound US-23 on to Tonkey Road, when the minivan he was driving was struck in the rear end by a semi that was also traveling northbound.

The semi was out of Brampton, Ontario, Canada, and was driven by Dilawar Singh, 31.

The Arenac County Sheriff’s Department was assisted at the scene by MMR and the Au Gres-Sims-Whitney Fire Department. The accident was reported at approximately 12:30 p.m.
