WHITTEMORE — Whittemore-Prescott's Cinderella ride through the district tournament came to an end Friday as Alcona edged the Cardinals 57-54.

Kaylie Jamieson scored 20 points for the Tigers, including nine in the opening quarter and six in the game-turning third period. The Cardinals led 30-28 at the half, but Alcona went on an 18-9 run in the third quarter to take a seven-point lead heading into the final period.

W-P had its chances to come back but made just 3-of-11 free throws in the fourth quarter. Alcona wasn't much better at 2-of-7 but was able to hold on for the win.

Alexa LeCureux added nine points for the Tigers (11-8), who have won seven-straight but face powerhouse McBain in Tuesday's regional semifinal at Indian River Inland Lakes.

Ashley Tanner scored 12 points and Cory Durham and Cortney Bork each had 11 for the Cardinals (4-19).
