My first Thanksgiving

Over the past decade, I have not had the opportunity to spend a lot of time with my family on Thanksgiving.

Unfortunately I worked in the restaurant business where Thanksgiving was the busiest day of the year.

So while everyone in my family was gathering for their Thanksgiving feast, I was busy handling my business.

After these last eight years of missing out, I am back in the game. Bring on the homemade mashed potatoes and that delicious turkey.

I have to admit I am excited to see what Thanksgiving has to offer this year. I have missed so many that the thought of all of this homemade food has me a little excited.

There is a rumor going around the Kuch house that the turkey may be deep-fried this year.

The food I know will be great, but the time with the family is the most important part.

It seems that the older I get, the less is get to see my family. Maybe I am just busier, but it’s fun to sit around with the family and chat around a good meal. Not to mention getting mad and yelling about how awful the Lions are playing.

While it seems like Thanksgiving has become the lost holiday, between Halloween and Christmas, this year I am excited.

I am looking forward to a day of relaxation and good food. I may even head out to the woods and do a little hunting.

In a world filled with busy people and busy places, it’s good to stop and think about the things we are thankful for.

There are so many things to be thankful for, like good health, friends, and family.

This year these are the things that I am thankful for. I am thankful for my family, that I am fortunate to have a good job, and that I have supportive people around me.

So happy Thanksgiving to everyone. Enjoy it, but remember that your eyes are always bigger than your stomach. Well… at least mine are.
