Omer man killed in car-pedestrian accident


PINCONNING — An Omer resident was reportedly killed while walking down Huron Road a little after 3 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 30.

According to a press release from the Bay County Sheriff’s Office, Lonnie Allyn Parker, 37, of Omer, was walking northbound on Huron Road in Pinconning, when he was struck by a Pontiac Grand Prix that was also traveling northbound.

The press release said Parker was reportedly in the roadway at the time of the accident, which was reported at 3:16 a.m. near Townline 16 Road.

A 19-year-old Pinconning resident was driving the Grand Prix involved in the incident, according to the press release.

Alcohol was not believed to be a factor in the accident.

The Michigan State Police, Pinconning Township Fire Department, Northern Bay Ambulance and McLaren EMS personnel assisted at the scene.

The accident is under investigation by the Bay County Sheriff’s Office.
