Oscoda fends off W-P comeback

OSCODA - Oct. 27, 2008 - Whittemore-Prescott's slow start at Oscoda on Monday proved costly as the Cards dropped the first two games of what ended up as a five-game match.

Oscoda defeated the Cards 17-25, 22-25, 25-16, 25-18, 10-15.

"We started out slow tonight," said W-P coach Helen Loomis. "We just couldn't get into our 'A' game. We played much better in Games 3 and 4 but couldn't seem to keep the momentum for Game 5.

"Serving and hitting errors were too numerous and our communication broke down."

The Cards (13-19-1) close out the regular season at Pinconning on Wednesday and then play at Oscoda again Wednesday, Nov. 5, in a district semifinal match.

W-P Stats: Cortney Bork 24 points, 2 aces, 18 digs; Kayla Camp 9 points, 2 aces, 5 assists; Chelsea Jasman 9 points, 2 aces, 3 block kills, 7 spike kills; Larrissa McGeathy 2 block kills, 11 spike kills; Chloe Moraitis 12 digs, 8 spike kills; Leighanna Loomis 14 digs.
