OGEMAW HEIGHTS — Standish-Sterling traveled to face adversary Ogemaw Heights (OHHS) on Aug. 27 for a battle of Northeast Michigan Conference foes.

OHHS got on the board early scoring a breakaway goal in the fifth minute and minutes later added a second goal by working the ball downfield with good passing. That’s all the scoring that would come in the first half.

The second half looked the same early on as the Falcons added their third and final goal just six minutes in. But a relentless Panther team repeatedly pushed the pace and would soon be rewarded on a Shay Irving assist to teammate Kevin Schmidt for their first goal. Standish-Sterling continued it’s unyielding attack on the Falcon net, but would be turned away each time thereafter.

The final score stayed 3-1 keeping the Panthers winless (0-1, 0-3) on the season.

Kevin Schmidt finished with one goal on two shots, Tanner Trombley kicked in with five shots, and Shay Irving supplemented with one assist and four shots.

Goalkeeper Garrett Russell grabbed onto eleven of the fourteen Falcon shots.

Standish-Sterling travels to Oscoda for a non-conference match-up Wednesday Sep. 3.
