Panthers top Flying G’s in OT


GLADWIN — The Standish-Sterling Central boys saw an eight-point lead slip away Dec. 29 when Gladwin battled back in the second half to send the game into overtime. In the end, the Panthers were able to secure the win by a score of 71-61 after a 15-5 overtime period.

Junior Cole Walderczak led the Panthers with 21 on the night. Bobby Samch followed with 15 and Dylan Williams and Mitchell McFarland rounded out the double-digit scoring with 10 apiece.

For the Flying G’s, Kegan Smith racked up 20 points and seven rebounds, while Kenny Malmo added 24 points and Cody French chipped in with 8 points and 11 boards.

The Panthers (3-2, 0-2) will take on Essexville-Garber in Essexville on Jan. 6.
