PINCONNING TOWNSHIP — Brandon Joseph Migut, 26, of Pinconning was reported dead after allegedly being struck by a pickup truck driven on southbound I-75 by a Reese man while he was outside of the vehicle he had been driving.

According to a release from the Bay City State Police Post, on Sunday, Jan. 25 at approximately 8:30 p.m., a cellular telephone caller reported a reckless vehicle traveling on southbound I-75 near Whitefeather Road in Pinconning Township.

The victim's vehicle, a two-door Buick, was allegedly traveling at a high rate of speed and swerving in the roadway. The car allegedly pulled over onto the right shoulder of the roadway near mile marker 184 as if it was experiencing mechanical difficulties.

State Police were dispatched to the scene at approximately 9 p.m. to investigate the distressed motorist and moments later another passerby allegedly reported a man crawling on the ground in the center median near the broken down vehicle.

A witness reported approximately four or five other motorists driving over Migut’s body before police arrived. Upon arrival, sections of I-75 were shut down for accident investigation for approximately three hours. The incident remains under investigation. Alcohol may have been a factor.

The Standish Area Fire Authority, the Pinconning-Fraser Fire Department and the Garfield Township Fire Department assisted at the scene.
