Pinny, SSC golfers take fourth, fifth-place in NEMC opener

BAY CITY — Tawas Area's golf squad showed that it is going to be a major player in the NEMC golf chase as the Braves took a 12-stroke victory Wednesday in the first league jamboree of the season.
Tawas scored 172 to second place John Glenn's 184. Ogemaw Heights took third with 185, followed by Pinconning (198) and Standish-Sterling (208).
Tawas Area's Bruce Myles was match medalist with a score of 39.
Ogemaw Heights' Rob Kish and Mike Villarreal tied for second with 41.
Rounding out the top 10 were Matt Flory of Tawas (42), Pinconning's Ben Poniatowski (43), Josh Schaefer of John Glenn (44), Anthony Knaflay of Tawas (45), and the Braves' Alex Phillips and Glenn's Zach Schisler and Cam Cottrell (all with 46).
