Pinny boys win at SSC; AE girls have first close call of the year; AGS falls

Pinconning rolls over SSC to improve to 3-0

STANDISH — The Spartans traveled north on US-23 and upon arrival, outscored the Panthers in every quarter to beat league their league rivals 55-31 in boys’ basketball action.

Pinconning led 26-8 at the half and rolled to the win, moving to 3-0 for the year. Casey Pashak led the Spartans with 16 points. The team travels to Sgeogard on Dec. 15 for its next game.

Cole Walderzak, who put in 12 points, led Standish-Sterling. The Panthers are 0-1 and play at home against Tawas on Dec. 18.

Arenac Eastern girls win in first nail biter of the year

FAIRVIEW — For a while it looked like the Arenac Eastern girls’ basketball team would steamroll opponents all through the regular season, but that wasn’t the case in Fairview Friday night.

The Lady Eagles only led 12-9 at the half, and held on to the three-point lead throughout the second half, winning 36-33.

Chelsea Dery led the Eagles with 10 points.

Arenac Eastern improved to 4-0 and plays Hillman on Dec. 15.

AuGres girls lose to Posen

POSEN — AuGres-Sims made the trip to Posen Friday night for a girls’ basketball game against Posen, but Posen came ready to play, dominating AGS 65-39.

The AuGres girls’ next matchup is with Hale on Dec. 15.
