Kiwanis and Arenac County Fund hosting third annual Millionaire Party

STANDISH — The Arenac County Fund (ACF) and Kiwanis are hosting a New Orleans Riverboat themed Millionaire Party on Saturday, Jan. 24.

According to ACF Chairperson Diane Morley, the party, which is scheduled for 6 p.m. until midnight at the Knights of Columbus (KOC) Hall in Standish, will feature Vegas-style gaming including blackjack, roulette, and Texas hold ‘em. Tickets are $100 per couple and include a catered dinner, $80 worth of free play per couple at Saginaw-Chippewa Indian Tribe casinos, a raffle entry and adult beverages.

“It’s always great food,” Morley said. “Plus you get $20 for the Saganing Eagles Landing Casino [Standish] and $20 to the Soaring Eagle Casino [Mount Pleasant] for each person.

“This is the first year we’ll have the casino there, so it should be pretty fun.”

She says the main raffle has a grand prize of $2,500 and every 25th name drawn will receive $25 in gaming chips. Additional 50/50 raffles will be held throughout the night as well.

She also says capacity isn’t a concern since the party will be held at the KOC hall this year for the first time because of its growth in popularity and notoriety.

“They (KOC) have a bigger kitchen,” the chairperson said. “The Standish hospital (St. Mary’s of Michigan Standish Hospital) uses it and it’s worked really well for them.”

Morley says the two organizations, ACF and Kiwanis, will split the proceeds equally and funds will go towards each ones’ charitable agenda.

“Kiwanis uses their funds to help give back to kids in the county,” Morley said. “The Arenac County Fund’s objective is to give back to the community through grants and scholarships.

“It’s really great because all of the proceeds will stay right here in Arenac County.”

For tickets or more information, contact Morley at 989-946-7114, Curt Hillman at 989-846-6560, Dale Wiess at 989-876-7856, Marvin Ittner at 989-876-8141, or Ronda Switek at 989-846-5205.

Morley also said anybody wishing to attend the event should request tickets as soon as possible to let the caterers know how much food to prepare.
