Police investigating string of larcenies from motor vehicles

ARENAC COUNTY — Thirteen larcenies from motor vehicles in Arenac and Mason townships and the Turner and Twining areas were reported the morning of Tuesday, Feb. 14.

Arenac County Undersheriff Don McIntyre said the alleged larcenies are believed to have occurred Monday night.

“The suspects were going to residences in these townships and targeting unlocked motor vehicles, removing contents and going to the next place,” he said.

“We’re at the beginning stages of these investigations,” McIntyre said. “At this time we’re advising residents to make sure they secure their motor vehicles at night. Lock their doors. All of these instances were in vehicles that were unlocked.”

Deputies were at the scenes of the reported larcenies Tuesday morning collecting evidence, interviewing victims, and inventorying missing items, McIntyre said.
