ARENAC EASTERN — Posen outscored Arenac Eastern 22-8 in the third quarter of Thursday's North Star League boys basketball contest, then held on to defeat the Eagles 62-57.

"We managed to play worse than I thought we could," said AE coach Bob Morgan. "The only positive is that we can only play better, not worse. We didn't play with any sense of urgency."

The Eagles trailed 22-21 at the half, and after falling behind outscored the Vikings 27-19 in the fourth quarter. AE, though, was done in by a 21 percent shooting percentage and made just 2-of-10 free throws.

"It's pretty difficult to win games with that kind of percentage," Morgan said. "Hopefully we can put this behind us and play like we are capable."

Shane Hentkowski paced Posen (1-2, 1-1 North Star League) with 20 points and 11 rebounds, while Scott Couture added 15 points, all in the second half.

Sean Norton led the Eagles (1-2, 0-2) with 22 points, with Graham Morgan adding 12 points and 20 rebounds and Brad King 10 points and 15 rebounds.
