The Arenac County Conservation District held its annual meeting at the Standish American Legion Hall Feb. 20, and after dinner, a presentation and some business, Rick Rockwell was named the 2014 Conservationist of the Year. Rockwell has been involved with Saginaw Bay RC&D, is a founding member of the Rifle River Watershed Restoration Committee, a past drain commissioner and former agriculture educator. He currently serves as the Arenac County Clerk and is an active volunteer with Good News Ministries. During the annual meeting, youth awards were distributed for the Conservation District's annual poster contest, and officers were elected for the district's board.
