SSC FFA members get ready for state competition

ALPENA – Three teams from the Standish-Sterling FFA chapter will compete at the 2012 Michigan FFA State Convention at Michigan State University in March.

Taking first for Standish-Sterling was Makayla Shaw in junior high public speaking.

The junior high conduct of meetings team and extemporaneous speaking participant Jill Castle took second.

FFA Advisor Ryan Stokoszynski said the SSC FFA members will be competing against 12 teams in each contest at the state convention.

“All you can do is hope they give their best performance and end on a high note,” Stokoszynski said.

Students from the Standish-Sterling FFA chapter will also be awarded as outstanding juniors and receive academic awards and state degrees.

FFA state convention starts Wednesday, March 7 and ends Friday, March 9.
