SSC kickers bow out in district


STANDISH -- Standish-Sterling Central's hopes of making some noise in the Division 3 district tournament ended in a hurry as the Panthers were blanked by Tawas 8-0 in a first-round game Tuesday, Oct. 20.

Tawas, North East Michigan Conference co-champs with Ogemaw Heights this season, will now play Pinconning in a district semifinal game Thursday, Oct. 22 at 7 p.m. in Oscoda, with the winner advancing to the championship game Saturday, Oct. 24 at Oscoda beginning at 1 p.m.

Roscommon and Oscoda play in Thursday's other other disrict semifinal beginning at 5 p.m.

SSC, meanwhile, finishes the season with a 7-11 record.
