SSC spikers start fast, finish slow

STANDISH -- Standish-Sterling Central started well but didn't end strong as the Panther dropped three-straight games to Ogemaw Heights in high school volleyball action Wednesday, Sept. 2.

The visiting Falcons held on to win he first game 25-23, the coasted in the final two, winning both by scores of 25-11.

"We started out very strong (in the first game), gaining an 11-4 lead at one point, SSC coach Becky Murphy said. "However, we had a couple of injuries that seemed to take away our steam so to speak. We just couldn't get it together after that.

"We seemed to be playing to 'not lose' rather than playing to win."
