SWIM CAMP APPLICATIONS: SSCE offers competitive swim camp

STANDISH — Standish-Sterling Community Education (SSCE) is hosting two competitive swim camps in August focusing on the fundamentals of competitive swimming for middle and high school students.

The first camp is from Aug. 3 – 6 and is open to only Standish-Sterling Middle School students who will be registered in fifth through eighth grade for the upcoming 2009-10 school year. The schedule for girls is 9 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. and for boys is 10:30 a.m. - noon.

The second camp will run from Aug. 10 - 13 and is for Standish-Sterling Central High School (SSC) students who will be registered in grades 9 - 12 for the upcoming school year. The schedule for girls and boys is the same as the middle school camp times.

The cost is $20 per student and participants are expected to be able to swim at an American Red Cross level-4 certification, as the camps are not “how to swim” courses. In addition, each camper must have health insurance.

SSC to conduct sports physicals

July 30, from 5 – 8 p.m., doctors at SSC will be conducting sports physicals for $15 for any student who will be participating in a sport this upcoming season.
