Santa visiting Turner village Saturday

TURNER — Santa will be making his rounds in Arenac County Saturday, Dec. 10, and he hasn’t forgotten about the village of Turner, where he is scheduled to be at the village hall from 1-3 p.m.

Village President Gary Bates said this is the third year the village has hosted Santa. Children will be able to visit with St. Nicholas to tell him what they want for Christmas, and each child will also get a small gift from Santa. Bates said kids will also be able to decorate a Christmas cookie and take it home with them.

Bates said this will be the third year in a row the village has hosted a small Christmas party with Santa.

“We just wanted to try to get people coming through town more and get the residents more involved in the village,” he said. “I know we had more people move in and there are a lot of kids running around town. We’re hoping they’ll show up.”

Bates said the first year there was a large turnout for Santa’s visit, but last year there were slightly fewer children who made it out. He and other village officials are hoping for another big turnout this year.

The Twining Village Hall is located at 109 W. Main St. in Turner.
