Spring bazaar being held for skilled nursing residents
STANDISH — St. Mary’s of Michigan Standish Hospital’s Skilled Nursing Facility will be hosting the 2017 spring bazaar featuring hand-crafted items for sale Friday, March 10.
Lisa Lemke, SMMSH rehabilitation manager and recreation therapy manager, has been running the event for several years.
“We’re always excited,” Lemke said. “I’ve been doing it enough that it’s not so challenging and we’re eager to have the local people, that make things and have the community come and check things out and see the hospital.”
Lemke said she is expecting to host approximately 20 vendors and 100-150 guests, which is similar to the numbers the event has had in past years.
The bazaar will feature homemade items such as knitted and sewn products, candles, jewelry, decorations, baked goods, soaps, wooden crafts and metal works, according to Lemke.
The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and guests are welcomed to come and go throughout that time period at no charge. Vendor fees will help to cover the cost of day trips for the residents of the Skilled Nursing Facility.
“It’s being held in our Skilled Nursing Facility area so it’s great for our residents to have locals come in and visit,” Lemke said. “It’s a busy day. We welcome anyone in the area. The more the merrier.”
