Standish post office sets summer hours

The Standish Post Office retail counter will open later and close earlier for the rest of the summer. The temporary “summer hours” of operation took effect on July 18. Mail delivery will be unaffected by the change.

According to Postmaster Paula Lynch, adjusting retail hours during the summer will allow greater flexibility for scheduling employees to adjust to fluctuating lobby traffic, which will increase operational efficiency and reduce operating costs.

Customers can also buy stamps at various local businesses or online at

Retail counter hours at the Standish Post Office will return to the previous schedule on Sept. 7, unless the financial situation changes.

The summer retail counter hours will be:

Monday – Friday: 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.; Saturday 9 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.

When is the Postmasters of Michigan going to wake up. I know it is to simple to copy the Sec of State. Open 11AM to 7Pm on Wendsdays for people to use after 5 Pm work that cannot make it to the post office during the day . Also close half day Sat could save Millions but that is to simple.

Direct routs would remain the same. How about Rhodes in Gladwin and Prescott closing at noon for lunch.. How are people on their lunch hour going to do mail. That is stupid.. Wake up and serve the people.
