Sterling man pleads guilty to CSC
STANDISH — Basil Brown, the 32-year-old Sterling resident charged with four counts of criminal sexual conduct with a person younger than 13, has pleaded guilty to two counts of CSC.
He is scheduled for sentencing on Nov. 27.
Brown was scheduled for a motion hearing in 23rd Circuit Court Wednesday, Oct. 30, but prior to the court appearance, Brown accepted a plea bargain from the prosecution.
According to information from circuit court, Brown pleaded guilty to one count of second-degree CSC with a person younger than 13 and one count of fourth-degree CSC with force or coercion.
Two counts of first-degree CSC with a person under 13, and one count of second-degree CSC with a person younger than 13, were dismissed as part of the plea agreement.
The penalty for second-degree CSC is 15 years in prison and lifetime electronic monitoring. Fourth-degree CSC is a high-court misdemeanor with a penalty of two years of incarceration and/or a $500 fine.
Brown was alleged to have engaged in sexual activities with two females who were living in the same Adams Township residence as him. He was represented by Attorney Pat Winter.
