PINCONNING — The 28th annual Sweetheart Ball fundraiser will be swinging into Pinconning Feb. 9, bringing classic big-band music to the Pinconning Community Building.

The music will be performed by the 17-piece band, Bob Fisher’s Out of the Past, out of the Tri-Cities. According to a press release put out by the Northeast Michigan Arts Council, the band will be playing music from Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Benny Goodman, Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Artie Shaw, Paul Whiteman, Stan Kenton, and other contemporary bands.

Tawas City vocalist Tracee Behnke-Lentz will also perform with the band, the release said.

The evening will also include beverages, desserts, and an hors o’doeuvre buffet. Tickets are limited and must be purchased in advance by Feb. 2: They are on sale at $25 per person or $50 per couple at the Northeast Art Center in Standish, Wilson’s Cheese Shoppe in Pinconning, Herter’s Music Center in Bay City, and West Side Decorating in Saginaw. For more information or a ticket, call the art center at 989-846-9331.

The dress code for the dance is semi-formal. The event is one of the major fundraisers for the arts council, and the money raised there is used for its programs throughout the year.
