Standish City Council begins looking for new manager, treasurer

STANDISH — On Oct. 14, six days after officially firing City Manager Tori Kelly and City Treasurer Melissa McAllister, the Standish City Council began looking for replacements. Mayor Kevin King says the Council is advertising the vacancies in newspapers and already getting replies from interested parties. “We’re getting a file filled with resumes,” King said. “Hopefully by [this] week we sort out the applicants.” He says the positions are advertised as paying $45-$65,000 for the manager position and $25-$32,000 for the treasurer job. “We didn’t want a lot of resumes coming in that at the end wouldn’t be interested in the job anyways,” King says, adding the pay range would be likely to attract past or present managers and treasurers familiar with communities close to the same size as Standish. He says the applicants’ resumes will be copied and distributed to all six members of City Council and himself for review. Then, King says a special City Council meeting will be held on Oct. 29 for City Council to rank applicants and hold a discussion about potentially hiring one of the interested parties for each position.
