SIMS TWP. — Three suspects are awaiting arraignment in the Arenac County Jail after a thwarted home invasion in Sims Township on Dec. 23.

According to Arenac County Undersheriff Don McIntyre, a resident reportedly spotted a suspicious vehicle at a neighbor’s house and heard noises in the building. Since the homeowner was out of town, the resident called 911 at approximately 12:45 p.m. with the vehicle’s license plate number.

McIntyre said three suspects were identified and taken into custody after the vehicle was found in AuGres. One suspect, caught the same day, has been charged with home invasion, and charges are pending for the other two, whom McIntyre said had to be tracked down.

Nothing has been found to be missing from the home, he said.

“The neighbor really saved the day,” McIntyre said.

He added if someone sees something that does not look right, it is worth calling in to law enforcement.
