Two people injured in late-night accident on M-65 last weekend

MASON TWP. — A one-car accident just after midnight June 15 resulted in a driver and passenger requiring medical attention.

Sgt. David Hall of the Michigan State Police said Kendra Lau, 57, and Clayton Lau, 55, of Sterling Heights, were traveling northbound on M-65 when Kendra reportedly swerved to miss animals in the roadway and lost control of the vehicle.

The vehicle reportedly crossed the southbound lane, left the roadway and struck a tree before coming to a stop. Both occupants of the car were transported to St. Mary’s of Michigan Standish Hospital via MMR and eventually transferred to a medical facility in Saginaw, Hall said.

Injuries are not believed to be fatal.

Occupants of the vehicle were reportedly wearing seatbelts and alcohol is not believed to be a factor. The accident was reported at approximately 12:11 a.m.

The MSP were assisted by MMR and the Twining-Mason-Turner Fire Department.
