UPDATED: Spartans and Falcons Square off at Net
WEST BRANCH -- Ogemaw Heights and Pinconning engaged in a Northeast Michigan Conference volleyball match Thursday, Sept. 9 in West Branch, where the host Falcons went on to defeat the Spartans 25-15, 25-22, 20-25, 26-24.
"We did a fine job the first two games, playing smart ball and adjusting to the hitters," OHHS coach Diane Gillette said. "In the third game we struggled being consistent in all areas. Finally, in the fourth game, we picked it up but had to come from behind to seal the victory.
"Overall it was a great night with a lot of different girls contributing to the victory."
Sara Meier was one of those players, registering 12 kills and three blocks in the victory.
The Falcons' Alissa Thorson led the way in kills with 18, Jorie Lucas added nine, while Paige Bacehelder chipped in with six.
Shelby Marshall had 14 assists for the Falcons, Lucas served four aces, and Andrea Gillette had 22 assists and four aces.
The Falcons improved to 3-0 conference and 5-6-2 overall with the win.
