W-P, Oscoda tie for 10th at Hemlock Invitational


HEMLOCK — Whittemore-Prescott and Oscoda each claimed a share of 10th place out of 15 teams Saturday at the Hemlock Invitational.

Corunna dominated the meet with 305.5 points to second-place Sanford-Meridian's 181. W-P and the Owls each finished with 64.

Chancey Rattie (135) was the top finisher for Whittemore-Prescott, taking second place in his weight class. Others placing in the top six for the Cards were Scott Garnett (4th, 145), Andy Steele (4th, 215), Greg Draves (6th, 140) and Kyle Hensley (6th, 189). Cody Lucynski (119) also won a match for W-P.

For Oscoda, Brian Perkins (4th, 119), Andrew Franks (5th, 160) and Jake Trier (6th, 130) finished in the top six. Winning matches were Kieran Clarke (125), Anthony Stanley (140), Eric Frasher (145), David Frasher (152), Chris Yates (215) and Alex Anderson (285).

Oscoda hosts Ogemaw Heights, Alpena and Rogers City on Wednesday, Dec. 17 while W-P next wrestles Dec. 23 at the Freeland Invitational.
