- NBC News is reporting Al-Qaida’s main spokesman, who was also Osama bin Ladin’s son-in-law, has been captured in Jordan.

- Sen. Rand Paul ended a 13-hour filibuster at 12:38 a.m. Thursday, as he tried to stall a confirmation vote on CIA Director nominee John Brennan.

- And in what would have been an unlikely decision anyway, the city of Detroit declined an invitation to bid on serving as the site of the 2024 Olympic games.
