What we're reading for Feb. 1: NASA marks remembrance day, Wayne State unions talk contracts, and moon bases

Here's a few of the stories we're reading today:

- The Detroit Free Press has a piece about the faculty of Wayne State University trying to get a deal in place that would circumvent the state's right-to-work law before it takes effect. Republican lawmakers are threatening to reduce the university's state aid in response.

- An article on CNN talks about the space shuttle Columbia disaster, which occurred 10 years ago today. Columbia's destruction marks the end of NASA's week of remembrance, as the Apollo 1 fire and the Challenger explosion both occured within a week of the Columbia explosion.

- The BBC reports that 3D printers could be used to help construct a hypothetical moon base using the lunar soil as building material. Robots would operate the machines until a protective dome had been printed.
