William B. (Bill) Cardinal Jr., 93, of Standish devoted husband and father passed away Sunday, June 22, 2014, at St. Mary’s of Standish Skilled Nursing.

He was born on April 6, 1921, in Standish, to the late William Byron and Genevieve (Angers) Cardinal Sr. He proudly served his country in the United States Army Air Corp. He married Marian Upton on Sept. 19, 1947, in Standish. He was a member of the Standish VFW Post 3724 and the Standish United Methodist Church. Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing, and making wooden toys for the grandchildren but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. He retired from Consumers Power Company in 1983.

Surviving besides his wife of 66 years are their children, Paula (Bill) Cayce, Peggy (Ed) Eves, and Bill (Patti) Cardinal; grandchildren, Shannon (Jerry) Rogers, Erin (Anthony) Younan, Ryan (Amanda) Cayce, Amanda (Chris) Nietzel, Joy Cardinal, Charity Cardinal and Grace Cardinal; and six great-grandchildren; sisters, Magdalen Sobol and Mary Anne Dembowske; brother-in-law, Richard Kutchuk; sisters-in-law, Gay Lynne Cardinal and Elaine Cardinal; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a sister, Yvonne Kutchuk; brothers, Gene (Ardie) Cardinal, Jim Cardinal, Bob (Jane) Cardinal, Jack Cardinal, and Richard Cardinal; two brothers-in-law, Ed Dembowske, and Louis Sobol.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 28, 2014, at 11 a.m. from Lee-Ramsay Funeral Home, in Pinconning, with Pastor Devin Chisholm presiding with burial in Woodmere Cemetery with military funeral honors. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, from 5 to 8 p.m. On Saturday, from 10 a.m. until time of service. The family would like to extend a heartfelt Thank You to Standish Skilled Nursing for the compassionate care Bill received.
